Trusted Sources?

by Criminy Pickett

In Science we trust, so do as we say

Masks do no good; but now, wear them today!

And Covid can certainly be spread at the beach

So sequester indoors (Vitamin D3 deplete!)

Hiking on deserted wilderness trails?

The risk is too great, my health you’ll assail!

Better to cower and stay all holed up

(Those overdose deaths, why they’re sure adding up!)

Despite overweight risk, the gyms you must rid
(If they died from hypertension, well at least ‘twasn’t Covid!)

Cough in your elbow, keep those germs well contained!

Such a vaunted and all-so-common refrain

Just seems mighty perplexing and leaves me displeased

You want to touch elbows in the place you just sneezed!

So many paradoxes that just don’t add up

Then there’s the lab-leak potential cover-up

Remarkable you won’t at least further explore

A quite-likely scenario just a little bit more

Perhaps it’s the backstory of grant-money funneled

That has researchers scrambling to plug dikes with word trunnels

And now you label me a skeptic and say

That I should trust leaders that led us astray

Just pointing out the huge credibility gap

Responses and policies were all over the map

Too many bridges in the past year you’ve burned

Don’t you now get it? TRUST has to be earned!

So spare me the guilt and your gaslighting ways

You’ve created the “monster” you now want to slay

With the Feds and Big Tech now squarely in bed

Their sole version of “Truth” they seek to embed

And censor and label as untrustworthy

Any dissenting opinion from adversaries

The biased ‘fact checkers’ and Pinocchio givers

Do George Orwell proud (but give me the shivers!)

Only government sites now deemed ‘trusted source’

The arsonist turned firefighter, irony coarse!
